How it is read

Whatever you send, it comes out the same way

Documents with real text

Word files and PDFs that already carry a text layer are read directly. Nothing is guessed and nothing is re-typed — the words that come out are the words that were in the file.

Scans and photographs

A photo, a scan, or a PDF that turns out to be nothing but pictures of pages goes to text recognition first. That covers most things people photograph on a phone.

Text you paste in

Typed or pasted text takes exactly the same route as an uploaded file. There is no separate, thinner path for it.

The file name is only a hint

Which reader runs is decided by what is actually inside the file, not by what it is called. A Word document someone saved as a .pdf still opens correctly. Formats no reader can open — a decades-old Word binary, or a file locked with a password — are turned away straight away with a reason, instead of failing somewhere in the middle.
